Feeling a little lost with your blog?
Perhaps you are struggling to find the energy to write in between life’s up’s and downs.
Or maybe you feel guilty writing away when your kiddo comes running up to you while writing.
Believe it or not, these are such common feelings for all Bloggers, no matter how successful they have been with it thus far.
Through personal experience, I have recently felt exactly the same. It’s hard.
Often for me, when I’m juggling multiple families and setting up interviews, dates, working late hours, smelling like little farts and keeping little humans alive and happy is already a lot to take on. I have been feeling a big rush of overwhelm as I am needed in various directions and guilt for the times recently I have not been Blogging.
So I want to share with you a few tips I have learned recently that have really helped. I’m talking real, honest truths that I actually haven’t heard people share before.
Tip One- Listen to your emotion
I think the worst thing you could do right now when you feel this negative emotion is to roll it under the rug and pretend everything is fine. There is a reason you feel this way and it’s not going anywhere.
Listen to your head, heart and your body.
When I had a little bit of time off recently, I remember saying to my partner that I felt like a failure.
Not enough Nanny families were coming my way, I felt the Blog was just sitting there waiting on me and I had all these great money-making ideas just sitting there in my head getting bored from my lazy actions. It all pilled up over time and in all honesty, I felt very emotional.
But I am really glad that I talked about it. Very often I want my partner to see me as super-woman who handles it all and comes out the other end all rosy. Someone who can morph into an Octopus, juggling everything with my eight tentacles
But I am not like that and it’s okay. I am real.
So my first tip for you would be to get it out, even chat to me if not family/ loved ones/ friends. Any good human will sit and listen!
Stop Blogging for a second and feel this emotion. Where is it coming from? Don’t feel guilty for stopping. Your blog isn’t going to go anywhere and neither are your clients.
They are there and the law of attraction will make it work when you are ready to.
Which brings me to my next point…
Tip 2- Exercise
It was from my partner’s chat that he mentioned a particular quote from Sean Stevenson. For those of you who don’t know, this man was born with osteogenesis imperfecta (brittle bone disease) and because of this he stands at 3 feet tall and uses a wheelchair. Doctors were convinced Sean would not make it yet, of course, he did! As now a Therapist, writer and motivational speaker he really is a very incredible human.
In one video, Sean was talking about Self- Care. You know, real self-care, and not just shopping and Bubble baths (although this does sound pretty therapeutic too!)
He says every time he feels lost for whatever reason that may be, he goes back to the drawing board and makes sure his body and mind are where they need to be. He does this by feeding his body well and exercising to aid his mental health.
Often to release and work through an emotion, exercise is key. It helps lift your whole mental state and gets all those crappy emotions out rather than sitting dormant in your body festering away.
If this man at 3 feet in a wheelchair can exercise then I don’t know what is stopping us!
Run, walk, jog, swim, cycle, skip, jump or have a dance party with the kids!
The best investment you can ever make is 100% in you.
Tip 3- Self-forgiveness
To move in a forward direction with my Blog, I have to forgive myself when I was going through this Slump. I felt a big shame on my shoulders every time I saw another Blogger absolutely smashing it (although I’m giving them a massive virtual High-Five!). I felt guilty for investing more of myself into my Nanny families and my partner.
Especially, since we have just gone on holiday, I went rather incognito. Now looking back I think I really needed it but at the time my head was a little fussy and I couldn’t see my vision clearly.
Now I am not saying we can all afford to jump on a plane every time we feel a slump. I’m saying as part of all good relationships they need space in order to work strongest when united.
I am glad I took a step back. Blogging and I needed a little space from each other and that my friends, is all okay.
Tip 4- WHY?
I really do want to remind myself of my Why much more often. Any good coach will tell you that having one keeps your roadmap clear and ultimately determines how much time, money and effort you have to put in.
It’s super easy when Blogging to get caught up in the here and now. Sharing and writing and making new great relationships. It might look like another day right now but it’s another tiny action which brings your why closer to reality.
Why’s don’t have to be supercars and helicopters (although if that’s yours then that sounds super awesome) they can be how you would most like to envision your life in the future and what you want for you.
Mines is pretty standard but very close to my heart.
When I started this blog almost a year ago it was very exciting and super scary. I wanted to share Nanny Maryanne with the world and have the pride for what I do burst through!
But I also started it because, in the future, I want the financial freedom to see this world which we live in. I don’t want to miss a thing. I don’t want to be caged in or have to miss out on what life has to offer me because I couldn’t afford it.
My second Why is for my future children. I want to show them that whatever they want to be, they can be. I want to show them that not everybody has to do the same life of school-Uni-9 to 5 job- then wait until retirement to start living. Each to their own and all, but that life isn’t for me.
Whatever your why may be, write it down and stick it to the top of your laptop!
Tip 5- Investing
What do you invest in your Blog?
When you have a job interview, you might spend money on Petrol to get there or purchase a bus ticket but we don’t complain much on spending this money as we know, if we get the job, that money will come back tenfold.
Blogging is all the same.
If you can’t do your weekly Post without your children running into your room, then hire a Nanny. Sure you could let Nanny money burn a hole in your pocket, or you could invest yourself in your Blog during this time and ensure your kiddos are still being taken care of and stimulated. If you want your why to work later then invest in it now.
And it’s not just all money talk!
Invest in you too and be real. Do everything you can so that your mental, physical and emotional health is strong so that when you sit down to write, what you produce is solid gold.
Tip 6- Laugh
Much like exercise, laughing kicks all those nasty toxins out of our bodies. When you are feeling a slump, laughing is such a powerful super simple way to lift your whole body and energy.
So when you are taking a little break, make sure to only allow peoples moods to shine on you when they are positive and let anything negative bounce straight off!
“The benefits of laughter are impressive. It boosts your immune system, exercises practically every muscle group, and releases natural pain-relieving chemicals into your blood-stream. Even a small amount of research into laughter yields an overwhelming amount of evidence that laughter heals. In fact, even curving your mouth upward in the semblance of a smile – no matter how you feel inside – stimulates your brain to release healing chemicals into our system. “~ Sean Stephenson
