This is why these little guys are AMAZING!

Depending on the age of your child, you don’t have to blend everything together so it suits slightly older children too!

So, without further ado, let’s get cooking!!

Step 1- Ingredients

  • Two portions of salmon (I always make more than I need for batch cooking).
  • A handful of spinach, finely chopped.
  • A handful of baby tomatoes (these little guys tend to be the sweetest).
  • A cup of orzo.
  • A handful of chickpeas.
  • 1 egg.

The great thing is that you really don’t need to use the same I ingredients listed here if you don’t have them in. Just have a look for veggies, a little protein and some form of carbs and follow the same method below!

Step 2- Method

So normally I like to grill the salmon fillets as it’s slightly healthier this way, but frying is faster so it’s totally up to you!

While the salmon is cooking I finely chop my spinach and tomatoes! Then boil some orzo in a pan.

Once the salmon is cooked, throw everything in a bowl and mash with a fork. For older children, you can keep it like this or for younger humans you can blend together until there are no lumps!

Now, all to do is roll into little balls, cover with flour and bake in the oven for around 20 mins, or until golden brown!

Step 4- Feed little human!

I felt quite smug with my timing as the little one I was nannying had just woken up from a nap and was ready for some delicious lunch!

She LOVES finger feedings so this recipe was perfect for her to have a nibble and independently eat on her own!

All in all, I call it a pretty awesome success and I will for sure be using new and exciting ingredients next time!

With such a versatile dish like this, it can be used for literally age after 6 months. As mentioned previously, I would blend the ingredients together for younger babies!
