Sunshine Blogger Award Nomination!

Recently, I was given the pleasure of being nominated for the lovely sunshine blogger award nomination! I am so grateful that my work is being recognised and I can’t wait to continue to support other bloggers as they have supported me!

When fit hits the shan!

First things first! A massive thank you to the wonderful lady, Mrs S who is the proud owner of When fit Hits the shan! If you haven’t already, I whole-heartedly suggest you check out her posts right this second! She is so committed and her work is truly amazing to read!

I’m overjoyed to participate in the sunshine award nomination and it is such a lovely way to grow and connect with other bloggers!

Here’s what to do!

1- Give a big thank you to the person who nominated you so others can find them! You are amazing When fit hits the shan!

2-Answer the questions from the blogger who nominated you.

3-Nominate other bloggers and ask them your own set of questions!

4- Let the nominees know about the nomination in one of their posts!

5-List the rules and the Sunshine Award nomination on your own site.

6- Let the fun begin!

The questions I was asked!

1- What was your most embarrassing moment?

I have a multitude of embarrassing moments to choose from so this one required a good debate! The one that stands out in my head involves me in my younger days and a drinking game (uhoh!). Whoever lost the game had to strip outside and run around the building. Guess who lost? Yes, yours truly! Oh gosh, I can feel my nanny reputation slipping away as we speak!

The worst part about it was even though it was night time I didn’t end up quite as stealth as I had set out to be. When I got outside my friend’s cat slipped out with me. She must have planned my disgrace in advance as she really didn’t help me tiptoe around the building discretely as I had once hoped! She thoughtfully did the opposite and decided to run up a neighbours window and taunt the dogs…which of course didn’t help my case! If you have ever heard of a domino effect, I quickly became the essence of this phrase. One dog startled the next door neighbours dogs which caused neighbours to their windows and be met with a little bit of embarrassed flesh which zoomed past their window in desperate attempt to keep a little dignity.

To finish the splendid night with a whole lot of barking and surprised spectators I ran quickly back inside with my face a deep shade of red. I was embarrassed sure, but I also laughed till my stomach was sore! I think sometimes things in life happen and you can either let it get bigger than you, or laugh!

2-What clique were you in during high school? Were you popular, in the band, a jock, etc.?

As I live in Scotland, our school cliques are a little different to many American ones but we sure still had some! In high school, I was the most awkward and sweaty little thing! I pretty much kept myself to myself. At the time my confidence in myself was really low and I never thought much of who I was. There was already really confident people at my school who were determined to make themselves known, I was just a little birdy finding my feet!

I remember the way boys talked about girls in school. They openly analyzed every bit of girls bodies and faces. I hated it! Hearing this at the time, I was totally intimidated! Like many teens, I became so conscious of myself. These boys were always talking about some airbrushed celeb picture, of which I knew I could never attain to.

Luckily, I had the most amazing Mother who consistently picked me up. She called me beautiful at least once a day. I think this is why today I am so sure of myself today.

3-If you didn’t need to sleep, what would you do with your time?

Oh, I sure would miss sleeping since I spend most of my day’s chasing after wired toddlers who I’m so certain they have been born with ever lasting energy and ultimate cheeky monkey mindsets!

I think if I didn’t need to sleep I would spend my extra time travelling. Since it would still be dark I would grab a blanket, travel up North with my other half and watch the stars. Hopefully, I would get to see the northern lights too!

When I’m not spending time with little kiddos you can find me most Saturdays with my partner travelling around Scotland. It has become such a crucial part of my life now and really lets us relax and refresh after a long week at work!

Please feel free to pop over to my love’s blog (that’s right we both have one, tehe!)My Saturday Drive

4-What is one of your pet peeves?

When someone has absolutely no manners, this is something I can’t quite get on with. Sure, we all have our days where things bug us or we are too much in our head, but it costs nothing to be kind!

I try my best to each my Nanny kids how to grow into genuine and kind people. This is why I love working with children! They are like little sponges and given the right tools, you can watch it grow into something wonderful. Just like a sunflower, eh?

5- If you didn’t have your current job, what would your second choice of career be?

Gosh, I can’t imagine not working with children! One thing I would never pick would be to work in an office job, it would be the polar opposite to what I love!

Honestly, I would probably be a vet. I love animals a little less than children but its still pretty high up there!

I’d maybe turn my house into a goat farm (I can almost hear my partners groans as I type!)

I’d be known as the crazy goat lady down the street!

6-If you won the lottery, what would be your first purchase?

Can I pick two? I got a bit excited and ahead of myself after this question so here goes!

I would take a year off work with my partner and travel our butts off. We’d see every bit of the world and go deep sea diving!

My second would have to be that I’d buy a really big bath! I have always had awkwardly long legs and I normally sit in baths like a giraffe just laying there soaking my troubles away. I’m pretty sure the bath would be ridiculously expensive but hey, just think how clean I’d get?!

7-What was your favourite pet and why?

What I’m about to tell you is probably why we don’t own any pets since this occasion!

When I was around 8 years old, like many little girls it was my dream to get a dog. And like many families, this was way out the question!

So we compromised and got a hamster!

He was a special little thing who was the shade of snow and this lead to his very uncreative name- Snowy!

Snowy was a spoiled little hamster, I used lightly to tie a ribbon around his belly and pretend to take him for walks!

Anyway, before me or my family knew much about hibernation, I came through to Snowy one morning to find him cold and stiff. We were convinced he went to heaven and gave him a burial ceremony in a tissue box and said a prayer outside before we dug a little hole for him.

About a week later we were told how hamsters go into hibernation but by this time we found the tissue box dug up and the contents enjoyed by most likely a fox.

…opps!

8-What is something that you have always wanted to try?

Deep sea diving! Once in Spain with my Mother and Brother, we had the most wonderful experience! We were taken out to sea on a boat and given the opportunity to jump into the water with goggles!

I held my breath and swam underwater! There was a whole school of beautiful and brightly coloured fish who I was swimming through! If you have ever had one of those moments in life where time stands still and it feels like there are only you and your surroundings, this was so one of them!

I still remember it as one of the most surreal and magical experiences ever so I can’t begin to imagine what deep-sea diving would be like but I will be back here once I have done it!

9-If you were going to be one age forever, what age would you choose?

Oh, I like this question! I would have to go the cheesy route and say I would be the exact age I am now.

Not that everything is perfect, I am still building a life for myself but I think the only way to live is in the moment. I don’t want to wish my days away to when I’m older, and I don’t want to wish I was in the past as I can’t change that now.

10-What is your favourite part about blogging?

When I was little, I used to write all these weird and wonderful stories and almost every Sunday I would waddle round to my Granda’s house, sit on his lap and read him pages of quirky stories which I am sure were packed full of adventure.

I have always been a natural writer (not to sound up myself). Such a massive part of what I do is centred around supporting families who I work with. Whether it’s sharing my expertise or simply taking time at the end of a day and talking through and issues Mother’s are going through, I’m there!

I get to combine two of my passions and do something many other qualified childcare practitioners don’t do or are afraid to start!

I have BIG aspirations for my blog and I feel blessed to continue to connect with you all and share such a big part of my life!

My question’s for my nominees!

1-Why did you begin blogging?

2- What do you think is most important in life?

3 Can you think of a time you laughed till your stomach was sore? What was it?

4- Can you name your first childhood memory, that you remember?

5-What was the best practical joke that you played on someone or that they played on you?

6-What was cool when you were young but isn’t cool now?

7- What about who you are attracted to appeals you the most?

8- What has been your most embarrassing memory in your life so far?

9-What’s the most annoying noise?

10- If money and practicality weren’t a problem, what would be the most interesting way to get around town?
