Oh, what a year it’s been! With lots of events cancelled it’s so hard to keep things normal and exciting for the kids this year. So, I have done a little research and came up with some amazing things you can do which still have space!
Just before I get into it, can you please do something to help me?
I created a book during lockdown with is packed full of strategies I have learned over the years which help children master their emotions.
If you could give it a read, that would be such a lovely Christmas present in exchange for this article.
How to help children master their emotions- By Mary-Anne Pugh
Shawlands Pinata trail
There are 50 Hidden Pinata’s hidden in the windows of shops across Shawland. There is an activity sheet to download so your little one’s can fill it in while having fun and ticking them all off.
Click the heading for the link! (This will be the same structure all through-out my post)

Watch the classic concert of the night before Christmas
You’ll be able to watch this concert for free from the 12th until the 31st of December. The concert includes special appearances from the RSNO choir and The Royal Scottish Orchestra. Have a cosy night in!

Craigton and Southside Christmas Penguin trail
It’s your little one’s mission to spot as many penguins as they can! You’ll be able to use a interactive map too so the whole family can get involved!

Magical Santa Sleigh ride
Check out this really cool experience in Silverburn shopping centre. You will be able to find it in their food hall beside Tim Hortons.

Ali the Magical Elf
Check out a live show of Ail the Elf form the `16th to the 25th of December. This is another festive treat so the little ones can still have a magical Christmas.

A letter to Mrs Clause at Pollock house
Little one’s can bring along a letter to Mrs Clause at pollock house and I hear she may even give the kiddies a treat! There are dates still available, although I would move quick if I were you!

Winter Wonderland dance party
On Wednesday the 16th of December, little one’s will be able to dance their socks off at an online party

Christmas by candlelight tour at Pollock house
Pop your Christmas jumper on and have a lovely tour around Pollock house learning all about it in candlelight. This sounds like another lovely event you don’t want to miss!

Christmas SOS
Have the kiddos listen to an hour long inter-active story in the old barn situated in Dumbreck riding school. Book to visit the event which will take place on the 19th of December between 3 and 4pm.

Visit the wee Christmas shop
Situated in Ashton lane, this wee gem has lots of goodies from small independent businesses from around Glasgow.
Search for Santa
This is a fun virtual experience which your child will get to search for Santa in an online map. It started from the 1st of December and must be completed by the 25th!

Santa’s Reindeer hunt
No need to book for this one as it’s a self lead activity. If you happen to live close enough, come along to the Reindeer hunt at RSPB Lockwinoch Nature Reserve with a pen or pencil. You will be able to visit here between the 12th and the 31st of December and the map is £1.50 to purchase.

The parking lot social winter festival Glasgow
With lots of movies and pantos on to see, this would definitely be a fun and exciting night for all the family!

Sleeping beauty Panto
This is an online event starting from the 12th of December. Unfortunately we can’t physically visit places to see pantos at the moment but at least we can still view them online!

I hope my suggestions will work for you guys! If you haven’t yet, please check out my book as I would love for more families to read my hard work.
